Another Defender Heads For Exit Door

Former Potters record signing Leon Cort is set to move to a top Championship side after tonights Carling Cup tie with Blackpool.

The ex-Hull defender has been tracked by Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest and should complete an emergency three month loan before the weekends fixtures.

Centre back Cort has fallen down the pecking order at the Britannia Stadium with Abdoulaye Faye, Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth hogging the centre back slots so far this season, with Cort's only appearance coming in the Carling Cup win at Leyton Orient.

Cort, a £1.2m signing from Crystal Palace, has played 50 times for the Potters, scoring eight goals and was a crucial cog in the side that won promotion in May 2008, and will join Danzelle St.Louis-Hamilton, Ben Marshall, Andrew Davies and Ibrahima Sonko, and soon to be Ryan Shotton, as Potters players out on loan.
