One to watch #70: Hairs Vuckik

Last updated : 10 December 2010 By Dan Buxton
Name: Hairs Vuckik

Date of Birth: 21/08/92

Position: Forward

Club: Newcastle

Previous clubs: NK Domzale

International caps: Slovenia U-16 - Slovenia U-21

Vuckic started his career in his native Slovenia with NK Domzale,
making his debut in May 2008 as a substitute, however he was
considered too young to be eligible to play at the age of 15 and the
club were fined by the Football Association.

Vuckic signed for Newcastle United in 2009 for a ‘substantial’ fee,
signing a three and a half year contract with the club. Vuckik is
highly regarded around Europe, considered one of the hottest prospects
in the game. There have also been recent suggestions that he spent a
trial period with Italian giants AC Milan.

Vuckic quickly became a regular for Newcastle’s reserves and U-18
team. He made his first team debut in August 2009 in a league cup tie
with Huddersfield town, playing as a left winger. Vuckic made his
league debut that same week, coming off the bench in against Leicester
City.

There is little doubt that Vuckic has a bright future, but there is a
question as to where he will ply his trade. Vuckic is thought to be
keen to become a first team regular with Newcastle but interest from
European Superclubs like AC Milan and even Manchester United could see
Vuckic leaving St James’ Park.
