Betting Preview - Cardiff v Stoke

Last updated : 18 January 2011 By Dan Buxton

Stoke City will look to build on a good start to 2011 and avoid a giantkilling at Cardiff this evening.

The Potters are favourites at 13/8 with VictorChandler whilst the hosts are slightly behind at 7/4 with most bookies for the game whilst a draw is available at 12/5 with VictorChandler.

Stoke will hope to get a welcome win at the Championship high fliers and book their place in the 4th round. A thrilling 3-2 away win is available at 35/1 with Bwin. A 1-0 away win is available at 8's with Coral and Bet365.

Cardiff will be hoping to get a first win in six against Stoke with a win against City and 1-0 would do the hosts just nicely. That score is available at 8's with Bet365, Coral and WilliamHill. Seven of the Potters games this season have ended 2-1 so 10's with BlueSQ, SkyBet and BetFred for a 2-1 home win could turn out to be a good bet.

Jon Walters is likely to start up top tonight and has been a regular Championship goalscorer in the last few years and is 15/2 with VictorChandler and SkyBet to open the scoring whilst Ricardo Fuller is set to be back in the side and looks set to start up front and is also 27/4 with UniBet to score first. In form winger Jermaine Pennant could also start and is still looking for that first Potters goal and can be backed at 22's, with BlueSQ, to break the deadlock.

Cardiff have an experienced set of strikers and will be looking for a morale boosting win tonight, with the initial games first goalscorer Michael Chopra again likely to start. The Englishman is 13/2 with VictorChandler and BlueSQ to break the deadlock, whilst strike partner Jay Bothroyd is11/2 with Coral and SkyBet to net first.
