Betting Preview - Aston Villa v Stoke

Last updated : 22 April 2011 By Dan Buxton

Stoke City will look to carry on from last weeks fantastic Wembley win and pick up three vital Premier League points against Villa in tomorrows big game.

The Villains are favourites at 20/23 with StanJames, the draw is 13/5 with VictorChandler, Bet365, WilliamHill, StanJames and BetFred, whilst an away win is available at 18/5 with VictorChandler.

Stoke will hope to repeat the performance against Bolton last time out to as good as guarantee themselves another season of Premier League football, as they sit on 38 points. A repeat of the result when these two clashed at the Britannia Stadium in September, a 2-1 Potters win, is available at 16's with Boylesports. Quite a few of the Potters wins this season have been by more than a one goal margin. A 2-0 win, to add to that total, is available at 28's with Boylesports.

Villa will be hoping to guarantee safety for themselves with a win against City and 1-0 would do the hosts just nicely. That score is available at 13/2 with SkyBet. Seven of the Potters games this season have ended 2-1 so 8's with SkyBet for a 2-1 'Claret and Blue' win could turn out to be a good bet.

Jon Walters is the Potters top scorer, and is on fire at the minute, and is 9's with Bet365 to open the scoring this week whilst Robert Huth also netted last week and is one strike away from being the first poitters defender to net 10 goals in a season. The German is 23's with UniBet to score first on Saturday. In form winger Matthew Etherington was Man of the Match last weekend and netted the opener. He can be backed at 14's, with Bet365, to break the deadlock.

Villa have regained a bit of form of late but £23m record signing Darren Bent has struggled to find the net with the same regularity as he did for Sunderland. The England striker is 7/2 with most bookies to break the deadlock, whilst talismanic captain Richard Dunne will be hoping to inspire his side to a much needed victory over the Potters and is available at 33's with BetFred, WilliamHill and PaddyPower to net first.
