Betting Guide: Blackburn v Stoke

Last updated : 28 November 2009 By Dan Buxton

Stoke go into this league clash on the back of a few disappointing performances, but still managed to pick up a win last weekend. Blackburn are comfortable in the middle of the table but will be without manager Sam Allardyce, who is recovering from heart surgery.

Rovers are, as expected, favourites for the game and are available at 20/21 with Boylesports. Stoke can be backed at 10/3 with Coral whilst the draw is 12/5 with Bet365, SkyBet and BetFred.

Stoke may have to sneak a win in this tense clash and 1-0 is available at 10's with BlueSQ. The Potters biggest win this season was a 2-0 opening day win over Burnley, and Bet365 and PaddyPower offer 22's that the Potters repeat that. The Potters have conceded two goals in two of their last three games so a third may be needed and BlueSQ offer 50/1 on a 3-2 Stoke win.

Blackburn may have to defend well and snatch a 1-0 win. That scoreline is 6/1 with SkyBet, StanJames and Bet365. Blackburn won 3-0 at Ewood Park last season, and the last time the Potters visited before that, and if you think that could be repeated tomorrow then BlueSQ will give you 18/1 on that scoreline. Three games ago, in 1988/9, the Potters were beaten 4-3 at Ewood Park and PaddyPower offer a huge 175/1 on that scoreline being repeated on Saturday.

James Beattie started out at Blackburn and always relishes returning to Ewood. The hitman is 9/1 with Coral to open the scoring.
Ricardo Fuller will be hoping to follow up his opening league goal and he can be backed at 9's with Coral to net first. Matthew Etherington is in fine form, netting first in two of Stoke's last three games, and can be backed at 20's with BetFred, StanJames and Coral. Ryan Shawcross has a chance to put last seasons Blackburn nightmare, when he had a nightmare at right back, behind him and he is 28's with BlueSQ to put that memory firmly to bed.

Jason Roberts was reportedly a Potters target in the summer and is 7/1 with BetFred and SkyBet to open the scoring whilst Benni McCarthy is coming back to fitness and can be backed at 15/2 with SkyBet. David Dunn has pulled a few cracking strikes out recently and most bookies are offering 8's on the Rovers top scorer breaking the deadlock.
