Betting Guide: Chelsea v Stoke

Last updated : 05 March 2010 By Dan Buxton

Stoke go into this game after their recent great run was ended last weekend by Arsenal, a first defeat in twelve games unbeaten. Chelsea are in a good position, top of the Premier League, still in the Champions League and looking to make the last four of the FA Cup.

The Potters are, as expectedly, major outsiders for the game and are available at a massive 11/1 with Boylesport, William Hill and PaddyPower. Chelsea can be backed at 3/10 with SkyBet.The draw is 5's with Bet365 and BlueSQ.

Stoke will be hoping to grab another big name scalp and a scrappy 1-0 win is available at 25/1 with PaddyPower. The Potters may go for it, being bang in form, and 3-2 to Stoke is 200/1 with Boylesports. The Potters have been conceding one goal quite often lately so a clean sheet may not be coming and BlueSQ, Boylesports and Coral offer 33/1 on a 2-1 Stoke win.

Chelsea are fantastic at home, with last weekends 4-2 defeat to Manchester City ending a 38 game unbeaten run at Stamford Bridge. They may have to grind out a 1-0 win to progress, with the Potters guaranteed to get stuck in and make it difficult. That scoreline is 13/2 with SkyBet and PaddyPower. When Stoke travelled to The Bridge last season that game ended 2-1 to the hosts and Ladbrokes and SkyBet offer 8's on a repeat of that. Stoke drew 1-1 away at Manchester City and would be more than happy to repeat that and get the Londoners back to the Brit. A 1-1 draw is 11/1 with StanJames, Ladbrokes and Bet365.

City will be hoping that the recent positive performances can be repeated and both Ricardo Fuller, who has scored four goals in the FA Cup this season, at 12's with Ladbrokes to open the scoring, and David Kitson, 16's with Bet365 to net first, will be hoping to repeat last Wednesdays opening strike. Matthew Etherington will be hoping to net on his return after recovering from a knee injury and is 25/1 with PaddyPower to break the deadlock.

Didier Drogba has been is devastating form this season and is 10/3 at Coral to open the scoring whilst midfielder Frank Lampard is the heartbeat of the team and is available at 6's with Bet365 to net first. John Terry has netted his fair share of criticism and publicity this season and is 25/1 with Coral and BetFred to score the opener to write some more positive headlines.
