Stoke Ramblers 8-2 Portly Vale

Stoke Ramblers well and truly got revenge for their early season Potteries derby defeat when they put eight goals past Vale.

The match was played in Kidsgrove as the pitch used by both sides, in Halls Road, Biddulph, had had its goalposts taken down following the Ramblers 4-1 win on Saturday morning.

This derby, the first time either side had played either in midweek or in the evening, was a tough, physical encounter that was also honest and played in perfect spirit.

Stoke took an early lead when top scorer Lee Jaquiss finished a half chance after a ball was lumped upto him.

The lead was doubled by Jaquiss before the returning Lee Tawn blasted in from 30 yards to give Ramblers breathing space and Jaquis completed his hat trick on fourty minutes.

Portly had forced Ramblers keeper Richard Glennan into a couple of quality saves before grabbing a goal back when a ball into the box was headed past the keeper before half time.

The Ramblers continued their show of clinical finishing after the break and Jaquiss netted his fourth with another expert finish and then, after trading passes with Ferrell and Cope eight yards out Jaquiss laid it back to Cope who finished it low and hard past the keeper.

Jaquiss was again involved as netted a remarkable FIFTH before Portly hit back, allowed time and space on the edge of the six yard box, heading home from a corner.

The scoring was completed when winger Nathan Ferrell's delicate chip dipped just under the crossbar for an eighth for the Ramblers, who can now look forward to the IFA Midlands Cup final against Boing FC(West Brom).
