Premier League Leaders Outclass Hardly

Green Street made it seventeen wins and a draw from their eighteen games this season after defeating Hardly Athletic by 7 goals to 3 in the latest round of cup games.

Hardly had been on a rich run of form going into the clash and took the lead early on when Chris Cope was put through on goal and slid the ball past an exposed goalkeeper.

Some heroic defending and fantastic goalkeeping kept the opposition at bay before two quick goals before half time turned the score around.

The start of the second half saw Hardly draw level through Matt Young before again falling behind straight away but showed more resilience to get the score back to 3-3 thanks to Andy McEvoy.

A fourth goal was then addedm against the run of play, by Green Street before a knee injury to goalkeeper Joe Gordon meant Matt Young was forced to take his place between the sticks and the Premier League leaders took full advantage, rattling in three quickfire goals to seal another win for Green Street, but one where Hardly were congratulated at the final whistle for a spirited display.
