Hardly Season Back On Track With Late Victory

Hardly Athletic came from behind to get their season back on track with victory against Pack Horse.

Athletic were without goalkeeper Paul Dale, Joe Gordon going in nets, and, knowing a victory was needed to keep alive the slim hopes they have for promotion, they set about getting themselves in front.

The game was a tight affair with both sides defences on top and it was Horse who eventually took the lead when their striker found the bottom corner after Pack found themselves two-on-one in on goal.

Hardly equalised before half time when, after a period of pressure and many saved shots, the ball rebounded to Matt Young in front of goal, the returning Athletic star finding the net from the edge of the box.
The second half started with Pack Horse again going in front, beating Gordon with a rasping drive from midway inside the half.

Hardly piled forward looking for a way back into the game and, although Gordon had to be called upon at the other end to keep Hardly in the encounter, Athletic's testing of the opposition keeper eventually bore fruit as a one-two between McEvoy and Buxton ended with the former lashing the ball past the keeper to level the scores once more.

The game could now go either way but it was Hardly who won it late on as Robins pulled the ball back to Buxton, the defender squaring the ball to the unmarked McEvoy who once again smashed the ball past the keeper and into the net.
