Hardly Defeated Again By Brussia

Hardly Athletic cup campaign leapt to another low as they were defeated 7-3 by Brussia Teeth.

Brussia, who defeated Hardly 5-0 in a league game last week, were two goals to the good within a minute of the start as stand in keeper Dan Buxton was beaten when a deflected effort wrongfooted the man wearing the gloves and then, seconds after the restart, Robins was dispossessed on the edge of the box with the ball flying past Buxton again.

Brussia had more efforts but Buxton was equal to everything they fired at him whilst Robins pulled a goal back at the other end following good work from the outfield players. Brussia restored their two goal advantage with a neat finish before Hardly missed a glorious chance to half the deficit on half time when Young fired a penalty wide of the goal.

Young then donned the gloves for the second half and was left exposed as sharp passing opened up the Hardly defence twice in the opening five minutes to open up a commanding advantage.

Buxton struck the bar with the keeper beaten whilst Robins finished neatly to add some respectability to the score before the goal of the game was netted by Chris Cope, the hitman rolled the defender before curling his shot into the top corner, leaving the keeper no chance.

Hardly pushed forward looking for two more goals to pull level but were undone by some fantastic passing late on as Brussia took advantage of some gaps at the back to restore the gloss to the scoreline.
