Goalkeeping Howler But Athletic Fight Back For Cup Point

Hardly Athletic suffered a howler from stand in keeper Dan Buxton, but recovered well to snatch a point in the cup game against Scoregasm.

Hardly started slowly are were soon two goals down, but Athletic were soon getting shots in left, right and centre but were unable to put the ball in the back of the net, until Chris Cope pulled them within one of Scoregasm.

The leaders soon extended their lead back to two goals when the player made an angle for himself before rolling the ball past Buxton in the goal.

Matthew Peart was then on hand to again pull Hardly within one goal of levelling the scores before Scoregasm netted again to make it 4-2.

Buxton then had his Rob Green moment as a weak effort from distance bounced towards him, the keeper getting his feet in a mess and missing the ball completely allowing the score to move to 5-2.

Hardly pulled a goal back immediately when, from the kick off, Cope turned and blasted the ball into the bottom corner to give Hardly hope.

Athletic were still pushing for further goals back into the game and Young struck to give them real hope with a couple of minutes left and then, with seconds remaining, Peart found the bottom corner to rescue a point for Hardly, who ran out of time going for the winning sixth goal.
