Poll Result: Man of the Match v Fulham

Last updated : 09 January 2010 By Dan Buxton

With a record number of votes cast, 185, it is a suprise that this poll saw the very first shared Man of the Match award. Most players received one or two votes and it was three players who polled 90% of the vote with the following result.

3) Tuncay - 28.1% - Only played the opening 42 minutes but was sensational, scoring one and running the Fulham defence ragged. Was withdrawn with a hamstring strain but the job was done and the Turkish star had been the centre of it all.

1=) Matthew Etherington - 30.8% - Winger set up all three goals and could have scored and assisted even more with a little bit of luck. Just as important as Tuncay and didn't fade as the match went on, showing great fitness

1=) Dean Whitehead - 30.8% - The first player to have three consecutive Man of the Match awards and the engine of the midfield has put himself right in the mix for the Player of the Season award, one more would put him top, as it would for Tuncay and Etherington, and he is playing out of his skin at present, a typical box to box midfielder hopefully he can continue this for some time.
