Poll Result: Man of the Match v Arsenal

Last updated : 08 December 2009 By Dan Buxton

Well initially this was a tight comntest but one man eventually strolled to victory with a clear runner up whilst thirdplace was hotly contested by a few candidates.

The Potters may have lost 2-0 but away at Arsenal that isn't exactly the end of the world and they gave a good, committed display until the final whistle. Andy Wilkinson came from nowhere towards the end of the poll to come within a whisker of snatching a top 3 place but just failed to get the extra vote needed and the top 3 stood like this:

3) Salif Diao - 9.6% - Broke up numerous attacks when they got into dangerous areas with his hyper extending legs. Another committed and disciplined display from a man who is becoming perfect for this position and back to his greatest Potters form.

2) Tuncay  - 19.2% - Ran tirlessly up front on his full league debut. Given the thankless task of creating something in the final third whilst his teammates sat back and tried to stop the Gunners breaking through he was marginally offside on countless occasions and also held up the ball well and allowed others to get forward and support

1) Thomas Sorenson - 34.6% - Second successive MOTM award and fourth in total this season sees him lead from the front in the standings and he earnt this award as he saved a penalty and countless Arsenal efforts and they struggled to beat the giant Danish stopper.
