Official Boothen Roar Match Preview: Stoke v Everton

Last updated : 31 December 2010 By Dan Buxton

The Potters welcome Everton to the Britannia Stadium after just two defeats in eight games, but searching for a first home win in four games.

Stoke sit 10th in the Premier League and will be up to try and inch further away from the relegation zone and hopefully into a european position. The visitors are one place and two points below City.

Stoke have an indifferent home record this season and have already beaten Fulham in the Carling Cup, aswell as five other home wins, but have four defeats. Everton have won twice away from home this season but have only lost twice away aswell.

In the 60 matches between these sides at Stoke, the Potters have won 22, the visitors 20 and eighteen have been drawn. Last time the pair clashed at the Britannia Stadium the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Overall Everton have won 58 times to the Potters 29 victories, although City haven't won any of the last 12 encounters between the two sides.

The referee is Andre Marriner. This season he reffed the Potters in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United where he controversially failed to send off Gary Neville. He refereed Everton in their 2-2 away draw at Blackpool and the 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle earlier this season.

The Met Office report that there will be light rain, temperatures of a chilly 4 degrees celsius, moderate visibility and a 7mph wind.

Prediction: The Potters ring the changes after the midweek defeat to Fulham and goals from Pennant and Etherington see them through to a 2-0 win.
