Official Boothen Roar Match Preview: Liverpool v Stoke

Last updated : 01 February 2011 By Dan Buxton

The Potters travel to Liverpool after just four defeats in fifteen games, and hoping to make it four league away wins this season.

Stoke sit 10th in the Premier League and will be up to try and inch further away from the relegation zone and hopefully into a european position. The hosts are three places and two points ahead of the Potters.

Stoke have a good away record this season and have already beaten Newcastle, Cardiff, West Brom, Wolves and Blackburn on their travels. Liverpool have won seven home league games this season and have only lost twice at Anfield.

In the 61 matches between these sides at Liverpool, the Potters have won just 3, the hosts 47 and eleven have been drawn. Last time the pair clashed at Anfield the game ended in a 4-0 home win. Overall Liverpool have won 61 times to the Potters 27 victories.

The referee is A Taylor. This season he took charge of the Potters as they lost 1-0 at home to Blackpool. He refereed Liverpool in their 2-2 home draw with Northampton, in the Carling Cup, which the Reds lost on penalties.

The Met Office report that there will be clear skies, temperatures of a mildish 5 degrees celsius, excellent visibility and a strong 29mph wind, with gusts of 49mph.

Prediction: The Potters ride the early pressure, quieten the crowd on a wave of enthusiasm following the arrivals of Suarez and Carroll on deadline day and score just before half time courtesy of Carew. Gerrard screamer equals the scores midway through the second half.
