Oppositions View: Wigan

Wigan have had an indifferent start to the season whilst Stoke are in a more than acceptable 9th, but you travel to the Britannia on the back of our fifth defeat this season. Do you think the Latics have a good chance of picking up three points?

iain01: I think a point would be a good result, not really because you are better it's because we have no real form. It's a scary thought really because if we played like we did first half against Birmingham we will win however if the latter performance (2nd half) is anything to go by I think it's going to be another big defeat.

Andy: It all depends on which Latics side turns up. It is hard for any team to pick up 3 points at your place. With our inconsistancy, I'm not expecting 3 points. I would be delighted to pick up all three however I would settle for 1.

The Potters are well known for a physical style but what kind of style are Wigan likely to play?

iain01: I think we will be physical where it is needed and the chance of playing a passing game will keep you on your toes. We will be more physical down the center (both defense and midfield) but hopefully craft some magic on the wings and up top.

Andy: We will try to play a passing game in a 4-5-1 formation. I would put my life on it!

Do you think the 9-1 defeat at Tottenham was a freak result or are cracks being papered over with other results?

iain01: It was a deserved result as we were shocking all over but I think it was a freak result as we have never played that bad before (even Blackpool was a better performance).

Andy: The 9-1 game vs Spurs was definitely a freak result. We were still in with a chance at half time. Only 1-0 down and wasn't a million miles behind spurs. Yet, our inconsistancy shown in the second half. As soon as we went 2-0 down you always felt that another was coming. Still, I didn't expect 9!!!

Are there any Stoke players you are wary of?

iain01: I'm worried about Etherington due to his pace and against an aging Melchiot this could be causing the CB to shift over and cover him.

Andy: Sorensen IMO is a top keeper and is part of the reason behind you being in 9th. Other than that, I rate Shawcross highly. Tuncay is also a quality player yet he doesn't seem to play too much for you

Who should we keep an eye out for?

iain01: If played up top, Rodallega can create a chance out of nothing. Also N'Zogbia is dangerous with his pace and his ability to cut inside.

Andy: With regards to Latics' threats, I haven't got a clue. You have N'Zogbia and Rodallega who will threaten any side. I really hope that Scotland will shine in this game and get his goal!

...and finally, a prediction?

iain01: Unfortunately 2-1 Stoke :(

Andy: I'll tell you after the game ;)
