Oppositions View: Bolton

We've had a decent start to the season but you are currently struggling at the foot of the table. Can you see this trend continuing on Saturday or will Bolton close right up on the Potters?

Tough one. We started off appallingly badly, bit unlucky against Liverpool - we were 2-1 up and S Davies got sent off leaving Gerrard to have a field day. Better attacking away at Pompey but leaked a couple of stupid goals. If Megson opts for his defensive system, we'll find it nigh impossible to score and you'll probably strangle us 1 nil. But it's a home match so I'd expect him to go for the more adventurous system which allows us to score, but leaves the back door open - in which case the score could be anything - 5 all anyone?

Both sides are known for their physical nature and neither are one of the purists favourite sides. Is this still true about the Trotters or is there a new style to Gary Megson's side?

We've never been as "physical" as the media cracked us up to be. Sure Kev Davies puts himself about but that's generally because he's good at it (should be interesting tussle with Abdoulaye) and because he's usually on his own when GM plays the defensive system. Like you we are decent at set pieces/throws. We used to be able to mix it up with creative footie - from the likes of Okocha and Djorkieff - but nowadays we haven't got that kind of midfield talent so we work hard - which is pretty boring for the fans. TBF we have bought a couple of flair youngsters, but they'll not get a game and are generally there for the future (if we have one at this level) Gardiner scares defences but he's recovering from injury.
So I'd say GM hasn't introduced a new style but has toyed with the idea of other options without changing the system.

Abdoulaye Faye has been outstanding since signing for the Potters, but has only played centre back. Are you a believer his best games for Bolton came as a defensive midfielder and what are your views on A.D. Faye?

IMO Faye was best just in front of the back 4 as a destroyer. I loved the guy and was gutted when Fat Sam sold us out and immediately nicked him for peanuts. Only criticism of Faye was that he made a fair few errors in dangerous positions.

Which Stoke players will you be hoping to keep quiet on Saturday?

All of them. Tuncay would be my particular worry - we should have signed him.

Who should Stoke be keeping a close eye on?

Depends in the system GM uses but in general there are no superstars - it's a work-focused team. If I had to pick one threat it'd be Steinsson on the right wing (if GM plays him there). Also Gardiner if he is recovered to play

and finally, a prediction?

0-1 or 5-5, depends on whether GM decides to play tight or go for it
