Oppositions View: Aston Villa

Last updated : 18 December 2009 By Dan Buxton

Villa have had a great start to the season, culminating in last nights win at Old Trafford, whilst Stoke are in a more than acceptable 11th and we travel to Villa Park looking solid if unspectacular. Do you think the hosts have a good chance of picking up three points?

On our current form - of course we do....Our home form has been much better this season. Our defence is solid, the midfield has pace and our strikers while not always consistent have been doing a good job this season. I'm confident of a win.

The Potters are well known for a physical style but what kind of style are Villa likely to play?

Strong defensively. Happy to soak up pressure then break at pace.

Last season this fixture was the turning point for both sides, the late comeback set us up for the rest of the season and gave us belief whilst that seemed to signal your demise in the top 4. Has this added extra spice to the game with the home side determined to put those demons to bed?

Not for me. Tbh - I had forgotten about last season. Its more about continuing our push to break the top 4 - so any and every game is important.
Oh - and my inlaws are all Stoke fans - so thats the spice from my point of view.

Are there any Stoke players you are wary of?

Delap & Beattie...

Who should we keep an eye out for?

Gabby, Downing, Young, and our big man Dunne from set pieces.

...and finally, a prediction?

Home win for me - 3-1
