Oppositions Season Review: Newcastle

Last updated : 29 May 2010 By Dan Buxton

So how has the season gone in your eyes? Was it better or worse than you expected last August?

Far better. We won the league, what more could you want? Back where we believe we belong.

Who has been your best player over the season? Who has improved the most during 2009/10?

Probably Kevin Nolan. He put it about in a league that is full of kickers and hackers, and faced them all eyeball-to-eyeball. It's a league where you have to stand up for yourself - and he did it every game. Most improved was probably Jose Enrique, but then again, did he improve or did he find his true level? He was rubbish in the Premiership - let's see what he can do this time around.

What was the best moment of the season for your side?

Obviously getting promoted. Winning the title was a bonus, but there wasn't an open-top bus ride around the city like 1993, which was a mistake by Mike Ashley (one of 784,964).

What was the game of the season?

Personally, winning 4-0 at Portman Road to rub Roy Keane's face in the shit. But the 5-1 against Cardiff showed we were a cut above every team in that league.

If you were manager what would you be doing this summer?

Trying to poison Mike Ashley's coffee.

Where do you see the club going from here?

Who knows. With Ashley in charge we will probably sell 14 or 15 players and have a team with an average age of 15 next season.
