Oppositions Season Review: Aston Villa

Last updated : 09 June 2010 By Dan Buxton

So how has the season gone in your eyes? Was it better or worse than you expected last August?

Has been a great season, and alot better than what I was expecting. If was always going to be difficult in the league due to Man Citeh/ Spurs improvement, and it was a bonus that we finished about Liverpool and Everton. Was disappointing to go out of Europe early doors, but meant we could take the domestic cups seriously, with a decision here and a decision there we would have something to show for it.

Who has been your best player over the season? Who has improved the most during 2009/10?

I'd say the answer to both of those answers has to be James Milner, with Richard Dunne coming a close second. Milner has stepped up since being moved in to the centre of midfield, and between him and Ashley Young most of our football goes through them.

What was the best moment of the season for your side?

Been a few best moments, the 1st win at Old Trafford in about 25 years, two local derby wins, plus the 2 visits to the new Wembley

What was the game of the season?

Probably Reading Away in the FA Cup.... 2-0 down at half time, playing awful, amazing 2nd half and won 4-2

If you were manager what would you be doing this summer?

Trying to hold on to Milner and Ashley Young, as well as picking up a playmaker midfielder and another striker. Also to get rid of the dead wood ie Harewood, Osbourne, Salifou, Shorey etc etc

Where do you see the club going from here?

Next step would be to give the Europa League a good shot, Fulham have showed what is possible so that is the hope for me, european away games are brilliant. Also to keep competing in and around the top 6.
