Signed by Spurs from Wigan for £14m in 2009 he started well at White Hart Lane before his form dipped and he was left out for much of the second half of the 2010/11 season.
A powerhouse defensive midfielder he has picked up booking reguarly during his time in the Premier League but is a player who fits right into the City mentality and an obvious step up in quality from what the Potters have had previously in the middle of the park.
