Experienced defender brought in on a free transfer after his release from relegated West Ham United.
Has played over 200 top flight games for Arsenal, Birmingham and West Ham and also has more than 20 caps for for England, including games at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Will have to fight for a place in the side but acknowledged this when putting pen to paper and a two year deal should see him represent the Potters on numerous occasions, especially with a European run on the cards during 2011/12.
