Uruguayan international came with a bright future and comes with the nickname 'The Destroyer!'

Was thought of as one of the game future stars Stoke beat off competition from a host of Europe's top sides for his signature, the player reportedly wanting to play In England for a side where he would feature reguarly.

The first Uruguayan to play for Stoke, the £2.6m fee could prove to be an expensive mistake or an absolute steal once he finally gets to grips with the English game.

His first season saw him play a couple of Carling Cup games but niggles, home sickness and a lack of reserve games meant it was in everyones best interest to loan him out to Brighton, managed by his compatriot Gustavo Poyet, and he stayed at the South coast club for the last three months of the season, having a mixed spell

After being heavily linked with another loan move down south for 2010/11 he in fact joined Barnsley on a season long loan deal and after missing pre season with injuries he turned on the style and instantly became a fans favourite.

That didn't last though and his attitude and commitment was questioned during a series of average displays whilst he occasionally turned on the style for the Tykes, giving an infuriating glimpse to the supporters of what they could have every week if he could be bothered.

Massive 12 months approaching for him as he looks set to break into the Potters first team squad or be banished from the Britannia with his tail between his legs.
