Versatile player who cost Stoke £500,000 from Preston and played a valuable part in the clubs promotion, filling in various positions throughout the season.

A fantastic man of the match display at home to Newcastle in the televised FA Cup match back in January 2009 first suggested he is most comfortable in the centre of midfield but he has also proven himself capable at left back and left wing.

At the start of the first Premier League season he only played in the Carling Cup and couldn't get near the first team squad in the league. Scored the vital second against Rotherham as Stoke sealed their place in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup and was praised by manager Pulis after the game.

Was more involved in the second half of that season and his versatility was a big asset to an, at times, stretched squad.

Remained a bit part player throughout 2009/10, and then 2010/11 but, despitemany comings and goings, still finds himself part of the matchday squad more often than not, and with the Potters having extra cup commitments this season Pugh could find himself involved in more games.

Has stated on more than one occasion that he is too old to be sitting in the stands and may have too move sooner rather than later, although a period in the side usually follows and he is then more content to remain a Potter.
