Twice Sunderland player of the year who, just three months after being made Black Cats captain, was signed by the Potters for £2.75m.

Collins started his career in non-league as a striker before being converted to a centre back and then, last season, a left back.

Competed with Danny Higginbotham for the left back slot in 2009/10 and is fifth choice centre back behind Shawcross, Huth, Higginbotham and Faye.

Was given numerous opportunities during his first season but struggled to add anything extra going forward, whilst also failing to get near the defensive standards set by Danny Higginbotham.

2010/11 was a big season for Collins and he did improve but still fell short of the standards set by Higginbotham and then when HIggy was injured Marc Wilson was preferred at left back.

Needs to knuckle down and put in some solid displays when called upon this season if he is to make an impact long term at the Britannia.
