Unfortunatly we cannot get any images from this game for you. Bristol City brought a following of 2,500 and the attendance overall - 16,828. Stoke take up 3rd place with games in hand, meaning if we win these games, the 1st being on nov 6th away at Blackpool and the second at wigan on Nov 13th, then the very least we could earn ourselves is 2nd position. If Brentford slip up, Stoke could take full advantage.
Hoekstra caused the Bristol City defence alot of trouble. His skill on the ball allowed him to totally take advantage of his opponents weakness'. He eased past anyone who got near him, only getting tackled once.
The potters started the game from the opposite end to which they normally do. This had no effect on their play however as they totally dominated and we unlucky not to put 3 goals in. Iwelumo had 2 goals ruled offside - the first we can say was definatly not offside - the linesman thought different and Iwelumo really is out of luck this week, hes scored 3 since the vale game, and they have all been disallowed when only one perhaps should.
A cross from Jurgen Van Doerzen saw Hoekstra fail to squeeze the ball into the net, the ball hitting his knee. The potters had alot of corners, the tall guys of our squad giving them problems. Gunnarson headed over just before half time.
Bristol City could have no complaints, they were simply outclassed.
In the second half, the men from Bristol were certainly in it alot more than they were in the first half. They began to show why they were in 3rd place, but nothing got past the outstanding defensive display of Handyside and Shtanyuk.
In the 87th minute, a cross from the right hand side was headed down by Hoekstra into Gunnarson who had his back to goal, turned and volleyed through a group of defenders into the back of the net, sending the Stoke crowd wild with delight.
