Boskamp said: "Maybe if I'm still here next year and he wants to then I want him to stay in my staff. Gerry's great to have at the club and that is why I wanted to keep him here for another season in the summer.
"He has a big presence in the dressing room and as you could see the other night he we was giving the lads encouragement from the dug-out.
"He's got great experience and he's been helping me a lot to learn about the English game and players here."
