Stoke still targeting signings

There have been many players linked with Stoke throughout the summer, but as yet only three - Kitson, Olofinjana and Sorensen - have put pen to paper. The club need to bring in around six further players to have the squad where they would like it to be, and many fans are now getting nervous that the team will be under strength for the opener at Bolton.

As a minimum the team needs two defenders and a left winger as these are areas in need of bolstering as there is little or no cover for these positions.  Ideally centre midfield and up front could also do with more competition.

Many of the names linked have fallen by the wayside, the most recent being Nikola Zigic, as the club desperately tries to bring its squad up to the necessary standard.  Hopefully the next few days should see more arrivals at the Britannia, and maybe some of the linked names will be among them. These names include Sergio Garcia, Roberto Ayala, Jon Walters, Amdy Faye, Lee McCulloch and Sammy Kuffour.
