28-year-old striker Kitson has signed a three-year-deal with the Potters as Stoke plan for life in the Premier League. His record of 54 goals in 111 games has brought him into view for England manager Fabio Capello.

The fee breaks the £1.2m paid for Leon Cort in January and could be just the start as the club are rumoured to be after 5 or 6 more players in time for the big kick off on 16th August. The record transfer fee could yet be short-lived.
