Noel-Williams got his name on the scoresheet, but had to leave the field with groin strain not long afterwards.

A beautiful day saw thousands of Stoke fans pack the Lyme Valley Stadium.

A return to action for Chris Commons, marked with a great goal goal from a curlng free kick. Chris Greenacre and Marc Goodfellow also getting on the scoresheet.

A relaxed game saw a calm game, but a cracking goal by Newcastle Town as they reduced Stoke's lead to 2-1 before the break. A looped header after a long searching ball got a friendly round of applause from the Stoke following.

It's the first of City's least challenging pre-season line-up, not playing anyone our own standard until Manchester United (Acceptably higher) AFTER the season has started.

And Finally, despite press reporting on police this, Stoke fans that.. The announcement at the end of the game went: "And Stoke fans, I know alot has been made of this fixture in the media, but once again you proved what great fans you are".

Another good day out for all at the annual Lyme Valley meet.
